So I’ve had this gigantic marrow sitting in my fridge over the last week. I’ve been avoiding it because I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about this vegetable. Plus, how can you trust a vegetable this effing huge?
I was looking up recipes and asking around for tips whilst I was putting it off. Apparently it’s best to just stuff the hell out of it. So that’s exactly what I did. I sliced it up, put it in a baking tray and then smothered it with a bolognese sauce, topped with vegan cheese and baked it for ages.
I can’t say I was overly impressed. My mince sauce was nice, but the marrow? The skin was still hard and horrible and the inside was pretty tasteless. I wasn’t gagging on it, or spitting it out but it was all just a bit bleh.
Which is why I’m not going to post a proper recipe tonight, but if you wanna bake a marrow, just do what I described above and see if you like it.
And if any of you guys have a decent marrow recipe PLEASE let me have it. I barely made a dent in this beast, I have a shitload of it left to eat and I’m not feeling excited about it. At all.
