Share something vegan with a non vegan
Like I’ve said in previous posts, I’m pretty anti-social and lazy, so when I saw this prompt all I could think was ‘I don’t want to go cook and then go out and share it’. So I thought real hard and decided I’d share something with the non vegan of our house….Aidah.
Aw she’s so cute.
Now if there’s one thing I know Aidah likes, it’s fish. So I thought I would veganise a classic, fish cakes. And why not waffle em too? I’ve not put quantities on this recipe because I didn’t really plan it and just went with what I had.
Curried Fishcake Waffles
- Vegan fish
- Mash potato
- Breadcrumbs
- onions
- garlic
- curry paste
- salt
- sweet chilli sauce
- Preheat the waffle iron.
- In a food processor blitz together the fish, onion, garlic and curry paste until they’re finely chopped. Empty into a large bowl and stir through some mash potato and a sprinkling of breadcrumbs until you have a patty like consistency.
- Form into small patties and put into your waffle iron. Cook according to your machines instructions
- Serve with sweet chilli sauce.
If I had better ingredients at home I’d do these with thai curry paste, soy sauce, coriander and a coconut dipping sauce. That would be an awesome combo…and maybe Aidah could be persuaded. Until then, I guess I’ll just be eating these all by myself.

Before I was vegan I used to make Thai fish cakes a lot so I can imagine how good the flavours can be. You continue to amaze me with your waffle creations. Hope your journey went well and you're having a good time.

Aww her little white booties. I had a tuxedo cat growing up. I don't think he would have eaten vegan fish waffles either but generous of you to try 🙂
